March 2015 founded and established The Hunter School of Music, a 3-studio music school providing piano, guitar, ukulele, theory, and composition lessons for all ages and abilities.

Grew business to 6 employees and over 100 students in weekly attendance.

As Director responsibilities included; payroll, accounting, scheduling, instrument maintenance, hiring and training new employees, advertising, social media, all communication with families and students.

Organized biannual in-person recitals and transferred to online recitals during the pandemic.

In addition to being the Executive Director, I was a full-time piano instructor, teaching between 40-50 students a week of all ages and abilities.

Prepared students annually for the competitive MTAC Certificate of Merit exam.

Ensured 5-star business ratings on online review sites (Yelp, Google, Facebook, etc.) by being committed to providing the highest quality of communication, services, and problem solving possible for all parents and students.

Managed the business through COVID and successfully pivoted all lessons to online learning with a 95% retention rate.

Continue to collaborate with the new director to assist with program ideas and occasional communication to families.

Interacted with over 700 students a week to provide sequential, standards-based music education for Pre-K through 4th grade students in the San Mateo-Foster City School District as well as other schools throughout the South Bay Area and peninsula.

Weekly preparation to teach lesson plans that include ear training, singing, playing Orff instruments, music theory, and introduction to playing the recorder for all 3rd and 4th grade students.

Conduct assessments of all classes twice a year.

Started a very successful glee choir with another MFM instructor for the 3rd and 4th graders. I provided the accompaniment during rehearsals, recorded videos to assist with home practice, and organized concerts throughout the year.

Schedule and coordinate the Concerts In Schools and In-School Artist Residency programs which connects a roster of 26 professional teaching artists with the local DC school systems and the surrounding counties school systems to provide in-school concerts and residency programs for all students. The Concerts In Schools program alone serves over 44,000 students annually.

Oversee the administration and budget tracking for the “Enriching Experiences for Seniors” program, which brings a roster of 21 artists to DC and DC area senior homes for performances reaching over 3,000 seniors.

Administer the Feder Competition, an annual string competition for 6th-12th grade students that awards prizes and performance opportunities for young musicians.

Re-design and maintain the monthly education calendar of events “Education at a Glance” which is distributed to the entire WPAS staff, board members and donors.

Assist with the Embassy Adoption Program, which partners 70 Embassies with 70 DC Public Schools 5th and 6th graders for a one-year residency giving students the opportunity to intimately learn about another culture.
